Toughest day in Taipei

Day 4 - 22 July 07

Today was the most tiring day of our trip... Cause we were going to Yangmingshan. We took Jie Yun aka MRT to Yuan Shan Stn. And we had to cut across the park infront of the stn to a bus stop to take bus 260. This bus will take us straight to Yangmingshan. The weather in Taiwan are really hot with temperature as high as 36 degree celsius. It is scorching hot when we crossed the park.

View of the place while on the way to Yangmingshan

We went to Yangmingshan and we took the mini bus around the mountain but we didn't alight and walk around the place. There is nothing much over there, except green land and majestic mountain view. Think it is because we went too late, reached there around 1pm plus. And it was too hot, plus the ppl there told us most of the stns are closed. It was quite a bumpy ride around the mountains.

We took bus to Beitou stn to proceed to Danshui. Can't remember the bus number. But you can ask the ppl there. They are very helpful. We supposed to alight at Xin Beitou Stn but we missed it and alighted at Beitou Stn. We took the Jie Yun aka MRT to Danshui Stn. Reached Danshui Lao Jie. You won't get lost because there are alot of ppl there on weekends.

Took this photo by accidentally. I only realised it when reviewing the photos I took. Quite funny.

Tried the ice cream which can go up to 55cm high if you want. But we only ordered the normal one. We ordered a chocolate and a green tea with mango (I think). The chocolate taste like our diluted milo.

Their Sweet Potato Balls are really nice!!!

The fried mushrooms are really good! Thumbs up!

The fried pork cheese cutlet

Tried the famous Ah Gei (crystal noodles stuffed in fried bean curd, served with a mild hot sauce). I find the sauce are sweet.

Fishball Soup

Ba Wan (in Hokkien)

Bought local snacks, Yu Shu aka Fish Crisps and Tie Dan... Saw a group of TV crew filming at a stall... Around evening, we took bus to go to Fishermen Wharf to watch the sunset. The sunset is very beautiful... You won't want to miss it if you are in Taiwan... And the scenery with the Lover's Bridge in it is so beautiful!!!

Lover's Bridge. Look at how the sky changes the colour. It is very beautiful.

The bridge will light up after the sunset.

Sunset

Look at the crowd there.

Shot a video clip of the sunset. Sorry for the shaky shot.

Went back to hotel and had a hot shower. Lied on the bed and fell asleep.

Day 5 - 23 July 07

After a few tiring days, it was so hard to pull ourselves out of the beds. We finally dragged ourselves up and went to Jiufen and Keelung. Jiufen is a really nice

Day 6 - 24 July 07

Day 7 - 25 July 07

Continuing on our Journey to explore Taipei!

Day 3 - 21 July 07

This morning, we went to Longshan Temple. The temple is beautiful. You can see very colourful cravings and statutes of animals on its walls and rooftop. There is a small waterfall also.

We went to Hou Huo Che Zhan located at Huayin St near Taipei Main Stn...

Map of Hou Huo Che Zhan

Bought 2 bags and 1 laptop bag from there... The staff are super nice... And I got the laptop bag for around SGD20... cheap cheap!!!! 4 of us got alot of bags. I think around 10 bags. The shop is near exit 7 of the Taipei City Mall. And I bought some cosmetics and beauty products from a shop near Jia Dou Li on the map. The cosmetics are way cheaper than those sold in Taiwan Watsons or Jpmon.com.

Took a pic of the Taipei City Mall. Didn't take it the day before.

We went to Wufenpu by railway to Sungshan Railway Stn. We took the railway at Taipei Main station. We were taking the train towards the Yilan direction. We waited for quite awhile, think 30-40mins for the train. And the ride was around 15-20mins.

There are signs showing the direction to Wufenpu. It is just right opposite the stn's entrance .

See their traffic lights are animated. And the seconds are way longer than ours.

Attached a map of Wufenpu. From the map, you can see that you can also take Jie Yun aka MRT to Hou Shan Pi Stn. Which I think is around the same time as the railway train.

If you are medium size, you be able to find alot of stuff over there. And bargaining is a must over there. There are alot of shops in Wufenpu like our Bugis Village. And you can see bags of clothing on the floor. Wufenpu is more like a wholesale market for fashion apparels and accesories. I was already super tired by then at Wufenpu.

We were so hungry and they finally reluctantly willing to leave Wufenpu for dinner at Raohe Night Market. There is a temple right in front of the entrance of Raohe Night Market.

We had mango ice, Tian Bu La, fried mushrooms, Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang aka Big Sausage Wrapped Small Sausage and the best over there would be a shop selling noodles called Da Beng Guo... Very nice!! Yummy!! Too bad I forgot to take a pic of the noodles. Only took a pic of the wooden banner on the wall.

We were so tired as usual. And we went back to hotel. On the way, I went to buy Mister Donut to try. I also ate a Dunkin Donut the day before. Both are nice. Mister Donut is more unique which I have yet to see in Singapore. It is less oily and have many unique flavours. You can check on it through their website. Just google it.
